How to make a sticker from a video in Telegram
Three steps inside a Telegram chat – no video editor needed.
Open @tinyfile_bot
Start @tinyfile_bot in Telegram. To pick a shape, length or output first, tap Video Sticker in the main menu – otherwise your last settings apply.
Send your clip
Send or forward a video, a GIF or a video note from any menu – MP4, MOV, WebM and other common formats, up to 400 MB.
Get the sticker
The bot crops, trims and encodes the clip. In Pack mode the sticker lands in your pack; in WEBM mode you get a file to add through @Stickers.
Sticker packs: the bot builds and fills them
Pack mode is on from the start, so your stickers collect in a pack of your own without a single trip to @Stickers.
Name it once
Your first sticker asks for a pack name – it becomes both the title and the link. Tap Skip and the bot picks a name itself.
Every sticker lands in it
Each new sticker is added with an emoji, and the bot confirms with a counter like 12/120.
120 stickers, then a new pack
When a pack reaches Telegram's limit of 120 stickers, the bot starts the next one on its own.
Bring stickers you already have
Send any video or static sticker and it joins your pack as is. To move a whole set, tap Copy a sticker pack and send its link.
Edit it in the Mini App or @Stickers
Rename the pack, change emoji, reorder or delete stickers in the TinyFile Mini App or in @Stickers – the pack belongs to you.
Or keep the file
Switch the output to WEBM and the bot sends each sticker as a .webm file you add to any pack through @Stickers.
Telegram video sticker requirements – and what the bot does
Telegram accepts video stickers in one strict format. You send an ordinary clip; the bot takes care of every line below.
| Telegram | TinyFile | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | WebM, VP9 codec | Encodes every sticker to VP9 WebM |
| Size | 512 px on one side | Crops the center square and scales it to 512×512 |
| File weight | Up to 256 KB | Tunes the bitrate until the sticker fits |
| Frame rate | Up to 30 fps | Caps the clip at 30 fps |
| Sound | None | Removes the audio track |
| Length | 3 seconds in the official spec | You choose 3–20 seconds (6 by default); longer clips are cut |
Pick a shape – rounded corners (the default), square or circle. A 1:1 clip works best: 16:9 and 9:16 videos are cropped to the center. Busy scenes are harder to fit into 256 KB, so keep them under 15 seconds.
What's free and what isn't
Stickers from your own clips run on the same free weekly pool as compression and conversion – 50 operations a week.
| What | Cost |
|---|---|
| Sticker from a video, GIF or video note | Free, from the weekly pool |
| Stickers past the pool in a week | 1 credit each |
| Your first 5 packs, 120 stickers each | Free |
| Every next 5 packs | ⭐100, once |
| Adding existing stickers or copying a pack | Free |
The pool resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC; past it, each operation costs 1 credit from your balance. Unlocking each new page of packs (+5 packs for ⭐100) also adds 50 operations for the current week. If a sticker fails, the charge is returned. AI sticker packs from a photo live in the Mini App and run on credits.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a sticker from a video in Telegram?
Send the video to @tinyfile_bot. The bot crops it to a square, trims it to your set length and returns a Telegram video sticker – straight into your pack, or as a .webm file if you switched the output to WEBM.
Can I turn an MP4 or a GIF into a Telegram sticker?
Yes. MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and other common video formats work, and so do GIFs and video notes – sent as a video, an animation or a file, up to 400 MB.
How long can a video sticker be?
Telegram's documentation lists 3 seconds, but stickers made in TinyFile can run from 3 to 20 seconds – set the length with Set duration, 6 seconds by default. If @Stickers ever answers "Video too long", upload the same file again: it goes through on the second try.
Can I convert a video to TGS?
No – and you don't need to. .tgs files are Lottie animated stickers: vector animation drawn frame by frame, not recorded video, so a clip can't become a real TGS. For stickers made from video Telegram uses WebM, and that is what TinyFile produces. The bot doesn't work with .tgs stickers at all.
Will the bot build a whole sticker pack?
Yes. The first sticker creates a pack under the name you give it, and every next one is added automatically; at 120 stickers the bot starts a new pack. You can also copy an existing pack into the bot by sending its link or any sticker from it.
Are video stickers free?
They draw from the free weekly pool – 50 operations shared with compression and conversion. Past it, each sticker costs 1 credit. Your first 5 packs are free; each next 5 cost ⭐100 (see what's free).
Why is my sticker cropped?
TinyFile makes square 512×512 stickers, so it keeps the center of the frame. If the subject sits off-center in a 16:9 or 9:16 clip, crop it to 1:1 before sending.
Can I turn a sticker back into a picture?
Static stickers – yes. Switch the sticker output to WEBM, open Convert → WEBP → PNG (or JPG) and send the sticker: you get a regular image. Video stickers can't be converted back.
