Telegram Video Converter

MOV, MKV → MP4 Video → GIF Video → WebM Free up to 20 MB

Convert video right inside a Telegram chat. Send a clip and pick a target: an MP4 that plays everywhere, a looping GIF, or a compact WebM for the web. Files up to 2 GB, nothing to install, no watermark.

Open in Telegram How it works

How to convert a video in Telegram

Three steps, about two minutes – right inside a Telegram chat.

1

Open Convert → VIDEO

Open @tinyfile_bot in Telegram, tap Convert in the main menu, then tap VIDEO.

2

Pick a target

VIDEO → MP4, VIDEO → GIF or VIDEO → WEBM. Each target has its own settings, and they stick for your next clips.

3

Send your video

Up to 2 GB, as a video, a video note, an animation, or a document. The converted file comes back in the same chat.

Or skip the menu altogether. Send a video from any screen and the bot asks what to make of it – Sticker, MP4, GIF, WEBM or Compress. Nothing is downloaded until you tap, so even a 2 GB file waits for your answer.

Convert video to MP4

A MOV off an iPhone, an MKV from a download, an AVI off an old drive – MP4 is the one format every player, messenger and camera roll opens without arguing.

Already an MP4 with H.264 video? If it also fits the resolution you picked, the bot repackages the file instead of re-encoding it: the picture comes through bit for bit and it takes seconds instead of minutes. This is conversion, not compression, so you get the file even when it ends up a touch larger. The result arrives as a document, so Telegram can't re-compress it on the way to you.

Convert video to GIF

A looping GIF for a bug report, a chat reaction, a README or a forum post – with a colour palette computed for your particular clip, which holds gradients together far better than a generic 256-colour table.

You get a real .gif, delivered as a file rather than an animation. That part is deliberate: sent as an animation, Telegram quietly repackages a GIF into an MP4, and what you save is no longer a GIF at all.

Convert video to WebM

The format the web wants. A WebM background loads faster than the same seconds of MP4 and plays inline in every modern browser – and it is one of the few video formats that can carry transparency.

If the clip already fits your target, or can't reach it without falling apart, the bot says so, names the smallest size that would work, and charges nothing.

Converting is not compressing

Two menus, two jobs. Compress keeps your format and only makes the file smaller. Convert changes the format – and treats your file differently along the way.

The format is the point

Convert changes the container and the codec – MOV to MP4, a clip to GIF, anything to WebM. Compress always hands back an MP4, only lighter.

Your metadata survives

MP4 and WebM keep the capture date, geolocation, rotation and the camera make and model. Compression strips all of it – a smaller file is the whole point there. GIF keeps none: the format has nowhere to put it.

The file always arrives

A conversion is delivered even if the result grew a little – you asked for the format, not for fewer megabytes. Compression that can't shrink a file tells you so and charges nothing.

Up to 2 GB per file

Eighteen containers in all – MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, M4V, 3GP, FLV, WMV and the rest – plus an animated GIF. Full recordings, not just short clips, with a time estimate up front and live progress.

Settings that stick

Resolution, sound, HDR, GIF length and frame rate are remembered, so a run of clips takes one tap each.

Private by design

Files are processed on the fly and deleted right after the result is delivered. No upload page, no account, no watermark.

Pricing & limits

All three targets use the same tiers as video compression. Clips up to 20 MB are free – they draw from your weekly free pool. Larger files cost credits by size:

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a video in Telegram?

Open @tinyfile_bot, tap Convert → VIDEO and pick MP4, GIF or WEBM. Send your clip and the converted file comes back in the same chat. You can also send the video first: the bot then asks which of the three you want.

How do I convert MOV to MP4?

Send the MOV to Convert → VIDEO → MP4. iPhone recordings are usually H.264 already, so the bot repackages the file instead of re-encoding it – the picture comes through bit for bit and it takes seconds. MKV, AVI, M4V and 3GP take the same route.

How do I turn a video into a GIF?

Convert → VIDEO → GIF. Take the first 5, 10 or 15 seconds, or type a segment like 0:12–0:20 for any piece up to 30 seconds. Pick 320, 480 or 640 px on the long side and 10, 15 or 24 fps.

What is the difference between converting and compressing?

Compress → Video keeps your format and only makes the file smaller. Convert → VIDEO changes the format, and hands the file back even if it came out slightly larger. They also treat your metadata differently: conversion to MP4 or WebM keeps the capture date, location and rotation, compression removes them.

Does converting lose quality?

Not when it doesn't have to. A clip that is already H.264 8-bit and within the resolution you picked is repackaged, not re-encoded, so the frames arrive untouched. Everything else is re-encoded at a setting tuned to stay visually close to the source.

What video formats can I send?

Eighteen video containers – MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, M4V, 3GP, FLV, WMV, TS, MTS, M2TS, MPG, MPEG, VOB, OGV, F4V, ASF – plus an animated GIF, up to 2 GB, as a video, a video note, an animation, or a document.

Is video conversion free?

Clips up to 20 MB convert free from your weekly pool. Larger files cost 1 to 7 credits by size (see the pricing table above). Up to 200 MB any credits work, welcome ones included; above 200 MB you need a credit pack. A conversion that fails is refunded.

Do I get a real GIF file?

Yes. The bot delivers a genuine .gif as a document. Sent as an animation, Telegram would quietly repackage it into an MP4 – as a file, what you save is the GIF itself, looping and ready for a README, a bug report or a forum post.

Are the capture date and location kept?

In MP4 and WebM, yes – capture date, geolocation, rotation and the camera make and model all travel with the file. GIF keeps none of it: the format has nowhere to store it. If you want the metadata gone instead, Tools → Remove GPS and metadata does exactly that.
