How to make custom emoji in Telegram

Start @tinyfile_bot in Telegram and tap Emoji in the main menu.

A video or GIF up to 20 MB becomes an animated emoji; a photo, a PNG, JPG or WEBP file or a static sticker becomes a static one.

Telegram takes custom emoji in one strict size. You send an ordinary clip or picture; the bot takes care of every line below.

Transparent backgrounds stay transparent when you send the source as a file: a WEBM with alpha, a MOV in ProRes 4444, a GIF or a PNG. A 1:1 source works best – other ratios are cropped to the center.

The pool resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC; past it, each operation costs 1 credit from your balance. If an emoji fails, the charge is returned.

Can I make an emoji from a video or a GIF?
Yes. Send a video or a GIF up to 20 MB: the bot keeps the first 3 seconds, drops the sound and makes an animated emoji. Longer clips are trimmed – 3 seconds is Telegram's limit for emoji.
Can I make an emoji from a photo or a sticker?
Yes. A photo, a PNG, JPG or WEBP file or a static sticker becomes a static emoji. Video and animated stickers don't convert – send the original clip as a video or GIF instead.
How do I keep the background transparent?
Send the source as a file, not as a photo or a video: a WEBM with alpha, a MOV in ProRes 4444, a GIF or a PNG. The transparent areas stay transparent in the emoji.
How many emoji fit in one pack?
Up to 200, animated and static mixed. When a pack is full, the bot starts the next one on its own.
Can I turn a sticker pack into an emoji pack?
Yes. Tap Copy emoji pack and send a link to any sticker pack or emoji pack – or a sticker or emoji from it. Every item is resized to emoji and copied into your emoji pack; animated .tgs stickers are skipped.
Are custom emoji free?
They draw from the free weekly pool – 50 operations shared with stickers, compression and conversion. Past it, each emoji costs 1 credit. Emoji packs and copying are free (see what's free).
What's the difference between a sticker and a custom emoji?
